Call for Participation: 25th Chaos Communication Congress

Three years ago, I visited the CCC (Chaos Communication Congress) with a friend and thought it was a very valuable platform for a wide range of people. I bumped into a member of the German Bundestag (parliament), people from Wikipedia, artists, philosophers, scifi enthusiasts, political activists, tekkies from all sorts of areas etc. I was particularly impressed how well the work of the participating artists was received (another thing that impressed me was the incredible Vietnamese food a few door down!) by the ‘hackers’. The compliments brought two of the artists to the verge of tears!

This year, my geographer-aspect is particularly tempted to go after reading about ‘hacking plants’ (this lecture is only in German unfortunately), ‘hacking the atmosphere’ and a lecture on climate change (presented by Stefan Rahmstorf, one of the authors of last year’s IPCC climate report and cofounder of the RealClimate blog).
There main focus this year seems to be triggered by this year’s shocking events of surveillance gone mad in the case of the sociologist Andrej Holm.

Anyway, if you have the chance, energy, money or inclination to go and communicate, here is their Call for Participation!

  1. So… shall we? I could organise some Berlin floor space, that’s for sure. But I think the CfP deadline was over a month ago ;)

  2. I’d like to – just have to see whether my family will let me out around Christmas time – *sigh*!
