Save Middlesex Philosophy

In case you haven’t heard the news yet, the Middlesex University has decided to close down its excellent philosophy department & research centre, because it makes ‘no ‘measurable’ contribution to the university’. As I’ve just written in this morning’s post on exhibitions… there are some effects which are not immediately measurable – and maybe should not be measured (especially quantitatively). This sentiment has been more eloquently expressed by Craig Calhoun who recently talked at the Open University about the significant changes universities are undergoing. If you like to watch the lecture, there is a video on the OU website.
